Archiving Regional Music

We have a remarkable archive of master tapes and files here at Howlin’ Dog Records, following the evolution of recording technology of the past 50 years. It includes hundreds of recording projects on:

We aim to transfer tapes and files to non-degradable formats.

The HDR archive will serve as the seed or the kernel of an archive of regional music, from wherever it may come. In fact, we recently acquired another studio's library of masters and multitracks.

Although we are very much at the beginning of this endeavor, our ultimate objective is to ensure that future generations can access this music in its original form.

Building a Learning Community

It's tough to keep up with the music business because it's always changing. But musicians can benefit from sharing knowledge with each other, and learning from those who specialize in specific areas. We'll host sessions and classes on topics such as:
