About Howlin' Dog Music Group

Who is HDMG?

This will all be a journey, and journeys involve steering. This is not a model that we have copied from anyone - we are creating it as we go. But we’ve got a bunch of brilliant folks on our board, and everyone feels committed and excited to see what cool things we can do - with the help of our larger extended community - like all of you! That’s where the true power lies. We’re just attempting to serve as a focal point for that energy and power, to do some good things in this world. We welcome your support on any level - good vibes, donations, helping spread the word, or anything else that you feel moved to do - and we are endlessly grateful for all of it. Please explore the website, and let us know what you think!

What about Howlin’ Dog Records?

Howlin’ Dog Records is part of HDMG and remains a small label based in Alamosa, Colorado. Started in the early 1980s by Don Richmond, Howlin’ Dog Records was a recording studio to help artists in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. With partners David Clemmer, Jana Pochop, and Teri McCartney, HDR worked independently for about 10 years to help artists with the entire record lifespan. Howlin’ Dog Records has recorded and/or produced well over a hundred independent releases.

That work continues today, and provides an affordable and high-quality studio recording, production, and label option for HDMG-funded artists and others to get their music out into the world.

HDR still works to build relationships and community among artists, audiences, and supporters. We believe music brings beauty, depth, and meaning. It changes lives and can save the world.
